Registered Clinical Counsellor, #23272

Hi, I’m Marissa Moens, a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC). I offer compassionate, trauma-informed therapy for children, youth, adults, couples, and families.

I hold a Master’s in Counselling Psychology from City University of Seattle, a Bachelor of Education from Simon Fraser University, and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of the Fraser Valley. In addition to my private practice, I work as a school counsellor in the Chilliwack School District and bring over ten years of experience supporting individuals and families in both community and educational settings. I’ve had the honour of living and working in Cambodia, India, the UK, and China, experiences that shape my approach with a lens of cultural humility, respect, and curiosity.

In my practice, I draw from a range of evidence-based approaches, including Child-centered Play Therapy, Sand Tray Therapy, Narrative and Emotion-focused Therapies, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), the Gottman Method for couples, and Family Systems Therapy. I tailor each session to meet the unique needs of the individual or family in front of me, always working collaboratively and with care.

My counselling style is rooted in a humanistic, person-centred approach, grounded in empathy, warmth, and non-judgment. I believe in the innate capacity for healing and growth, and that therapy is most effective when it’s collaborative and relational—you are the expert in your own life.

Outside the therapy room, I love connecting with friends over coffee, hiking local trails, getting lost in a good novel, and spending quality time with family.

Finding the right counsellor is an important and sometimes overwhelming step. If you feel I may be a good fit for you, I invite you to book a free 15-minute consultation to connect and explore how I can best support you.
